I was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Studied by the IPA (Instituto de Profesores Artigas) Drawing teacher. And I dedicated myself to teaching Drawing and Art Expression for over 30 years in secondary schools in the Capital.
I took a ceramics course for 3 years and in 1979 began studying the art of Gobelin tapestry with Ernesto Aroztegui, the pioneer of tapestry in Uruguay. Then, continue with the study of Textile Experimentation
I did the process of making paper Negrotti (Argentina), in metals with Arline Orfebreía Fish (USA), Design with Starcewski Antoni (Polish) among others.
Intervened in more than 50 solo and group exhibitions in Montevideo and abroad.
TEXTILARTE founded in 1997, the first center of exhibition and sale of tapestries exclusive national Organized groups exhibitions Tapestry interiorl capital and country and also started courses in textile techniques, drawing and color.
This technique is a particular language that covers a wide range of possibilities in terms of materials, resources, and textures.
CREATIVE PROCESS
Taking as its starting point the traditional Gobelin technique, I focus my research work of various natural or synthetic fibers, their characteristics and expressive possibilities. After the experiment, the interaction between them, exploiting the expressive qualities, texture, color. The dialogues between brightness and opaque, folds, holes, lines and contrasts.
I have worked with wool, synthetic leather, various fabrics, paper, cardboard, aluminum, national gemstones, shells, bark, woven wire etc. Always striving to achieve harmony, balance, beauty, characteristic elements of nature that inspired me and God's creation.
